The Timeless Workshop

with Lindsay Adler & Chris Knight

Workshop Overview

Learn from the artists of the past to add inspiration and timelessness into your work!

In this workshop we begin by exploring the influential role that style plays in creating unique interpretations of themes that have been explored throughout time. You will see examples of how Lindsay and Chris have taken similar concepts and inspiration while creating dramatically different results.

Next, we will take you through how to analyze influential works of art to discern key visual elements and techniques to add to your own photography. Whether looking at the work of a painter, an artistic movement, or a movie, you’ll learn how to look at lighting, wardrobe, background and other elements you can infuse into your own imagery.

Together we take you through examples of how we plan our own shoots, build mood boards, gather a creative team, find wardrobe/props, build backgrounds, and all the other elements that go into a successful timeless shoot. This creative process will vary from production to production and with each photographer, but we discuss important processes that will help you bring your own shoots to life.

Before each of the 12 concepts we explore over the two days, we provide our inspiration and the production/mood boards involved in the creation of each set. The production value of these sets are truly unparalleled– we are working with some of the best creative artists in the world to create these striking results that truly will be unforgettable.

Day 1
Day 1

Introduction Lecture

We begin by exploring what makes a “timeless” image and the role that style plays in image-making.  We’ll explore different types of artwork (paintings, movies, and more),  discuss the influences behind the artist/movement, and learn how they have influenced modern day photography. Lindsay and Chris will take you through a range of their mood boards and how they take a shoot from the inception of the idea to the final finished product. We will share the resources, tools and techniques needed to bring these images to life.

Day 1 & 2
Day 1 & 2

Portfolio Building

Now it’s time to take the core concepts learned during the introduction and put them into action!

Over the two days of shooting you will have the opportunity to capture 12 different, striking setups. Before each shoot we will walk you through the influences behind the concept, the wardrobe, lighting, posing, camera settings and more. You’ll learn all of the pieces that were necessary to bring the concept to life. Lindsay and Chris will guide you and answer questions as you photograph stunning scenes.

Day 2
Day 2

Retouching Presentation

At the conclusion of the workshop, Lindsay and Chris will give a brief overview of a few of their favorite post-processing techniques. Using images from the workshop they will demonstrate color grading, painterly techniques, or other tips to put the final touches on the images you have created.

Hear What Attendees Are Saying

"I had such an amazing time at the Timeless Workshop with Lindsay and Chris. It was incredible to see what goes into creating images like the ones we did, not just in lighting and the photographic elements, but in wardrobe, hair and makeup and set design too. I've never taken shots like these before - and consequently the level of photos in my portfolio has just gone up and up!.. I can't wait for the next one!"

I would love to take another workshop with Lindsay! Everything was so efficient and well organized and I was blown away by the talented teams and models we worked with. Thank you for such a fun experience!
Top notch from A-Z!! You know how people will share a recipe you love, but then it never turns out the same...b/c they likely didn't include their special ingredient?!? Well, it's just the opposite at Lindsay's workshop! She breaks down every set up with easy to understand explanations of the hows and why behind every lighting/styling/posing/post decision she makes. She's an open book eager to make the commercial world photographers better! Lindsay and her whole team made this an incredible experience that will certainly help take my skills to the next level! Can't recommend this enough!
The workshop exceeded my expectations. Lindsay is an amazing instructor! And the creative team did an outstanding job
Lindsay is the best of the best and can teach simultaneously to intermediates and advanced level photographers so that everyone walks away with what they need. She is full of energy but focused and determined to get through a ton of setups. As a studio owner and full-time professional for nearly a decade, I find her style and approach to photography refreshing and inspirational. Can't wait to work with her again!
If you're trying to become a fashion photographer, this is probably the most in depth workshop jam packed with information you'll need if you're serious about making this your full time job. Classes are small, staff is extremely helpful, and Lindsay is a joy to learn from and makes things simple enough for anyone to catch on quickly and get the most out of. This is the best "head start" into this industry you could ask for.
If you are second guessing taking a workshop, I'm here to tell you to BET ON YOURSELF. This course taught me everything it said it would and then some and I am soaking it all up to perfect for my own business. Lindsay teaches you that it's possible to shoot and make money but also shoot for passion and I think many photographers have a hard time navigating the two, I know I did. But now I know it's possible and I am ready to make the changes. If you're unsure, don't be, trust the process!
Lindsay's teaching style is very detailed yet in a very understandable and approachable style. She works with the attendees to individually to be sure they understand and if not, helps them correct what they are doing. Her creativity at combining photo techniques, suggestions for working with models and set ups is outstanding.
The planning, choice of models, staff, assistants, and Lindsay herself were perfection. I extended my capabilities, image impact, creativity and overall quality substantially, and got great images for my portfolio.
