Drawing inspiration from the masterpieces of cinema’s golden age to more modern eras, we will delve into the rich tapestry of classic movies to infuse your photography with timeless allure. Harness the light, compositions, set designs, and wardrobes of filmmaking to craft unforgettable visual narratives in this one-of-a-kind workshop experience.
You will witness the transformative power of style and interpretation as we present fascinating examples of how Lindsay and Chris have translated classic movie themes into their own distinct photographic visions. Together, we will analyze influential works of cinematic art, studying the artistry of legendary filmmakers, memorable characters, and classic stories.
From crafting meticulous mood boards to assembling a talented creative team, sourcing authentic wardrobe and props, and constructing intricate backgrounds, we will guide you through the essential steps that breathe life into a truly unforgettable shoot.
Before diving into each of up to 8 meticulously curated concepts that we will explore over the course of two captivating days, we will share our personal inspiration that has fueled the creation of each set. An unrivaled production value of these sets, meticulously crafted in collaboration with some of the finest creative minds in the world, will help you create striking imagery that will leave an indelible mark on your artistic journey.
With inspiration from Hitchcock, Kubrick, Méliès, Fritz Lange, and countless others, get ready to step into the world of classic movies and unlock the timeless magic that lies within.

Now it’s time to take the core concepts learned during the introduction and put them into action!
Over the two days of shooting you will have the opportunity to capture at least 8 different, striking setups. Before each shoot we will walk you through the influences behind the concept, the wardrobe, lighting, posing, camera settings and more. You’ll learn all of the pieces that were necessary to bring the concept to life. Lindsay and Chris will guide you and answer questions as you photograph stunning scenes.
At the conclusion of the workshop, Lindsay and Chris will give a brief overview of a few of their favorite post-processing techniques. Using images from the workshop they will demonstrate color grading, painterly techniques, or other tips to put the final touches on the images you have created.
Our workshop is held in beautiful Historic Downtown Jersey City, minutes away from the Holland Tunnel and Manhattan as well as only 20 minutes from Newark International Airport.
Our workshops cater to a variety of different experience levels ranging from beginner to advanced level topics and vary depending on the format. A basic understanding of how your camera operates is required, however you do not need to be overly versed in lighting or equipment as Lindsay provides explanations and instruction. Transportation and accommodations are the responsibility of the attendee and not included with the price of the workshop. We may however have rates with hotels in the area so please check with us before booking.
First and foremost you’ll need a camera, since the majority of this workshop is about portfolio building and we’ll be taking plenty of photos.
You’ll also want to bring plenty of memory cards, and batteries.
You do not need to bring any lighting equipment or modifiers as that is provided.
We prefer attendees not bring tripods as they can be obtrusive and get in the way of others. If you do require something to stabilize your camera, we recommend bringing a monopod.
A laptop is also not required, although we do have follow along portions for retouching so you can bring one at your own discretion.

We will provide a meal each of a workshop as well as snacks and beverages. If you have certain dietary restrictions we have a full sized refrigerator so that you can bring and store your food.
