The Timeless Experience Workshop

When: August 15th & 16th 2020

Where: New York City

Take a step back in time with photographers Lindsay Adler and Chris Knight for an experience that will stimulate your creativity and allow you to learn from these two masters of photography!

This portfolio building intensive will focus on creating timeless images that utilize vintage wardrobe, period costumes, props, and stylized photographic techniques.

With the help of professional models, authentic and couture costumes, and some of the world’s greatest hair and makeup artists, you will have the opportunity to create a series of stunning images!

What you’ll learn

  • Specific lighting setups and tools to emulate the looks of certain visual styles from film noir to dutch paintings
  • Concept development
  • Styling
  • Posing
  • Lens choice
  • Lighting patterns
  • Modifier choice
  • Directing your subject, and much more.

You will also have plenty of one-on-one time with our incredibly styled models, giving you a chance to capture a wide range of gorgeous images using the lessons from our two great instructors.

The last day of this workshop will walk you through post-processing techniques to put the final touches on your images including color grading, adding textures, retouching and even transforming images into paintings.

With two expert instructors you will get a variety of invaluable photographic lessons to utilize in this small-group experience.


Day 1: Dream Shoot Studio (Manhattan)

  • 9am-10:30am: Introduction lecture
  • 10:30-12:30am: Set 1
  • 12:30-1:30pm: Lunch
  • 1:30-5:30pm: Set 2, 3, 4

Day 2: Dream Shoot Studio (Manhattan)

  • 9am-12:30pm: Set 1, Set 2
  • 12:30-1:30pm: Lunch
  • 1:30-4:30pm: Set 3, Set 4.
  • 4:45-5:45pm: Dinner Provided
  • 6:00pm-8:00pm: Retouch demonstration

Capacity: 24 attendees


Note: Although this is a large workshop with a greater number of attendees, we will be renting a larger space and dividing up into 2 groups and rotating so that you will have plenty of time to shoot, and have one on one time with Lindsay and Chris.

Lindsay's teaching style is very detailed yet in a very understandable and approachable style. She works with the attendees to individually to be sure they understand and if not, helps them correct what they are doing. Her creativity at combining photo techniques, suggestions for working with models and set ups is outstanding.


Do you provide transportation/airfare for the event?
No, transportation is the responsibility of the attendee.

Should I bring my camera?
Since we will be shooting, absolutely!

Do I need to bring any other additional equipment? No. All lighting and other equipment will be provided (minus memory cards!) You may want to bring a tripod however.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?
The studio is located in at 526 W. 26th Street in Chelsea. (Exact address will be given closer to the event). There are several options for parking around the studio, including an affordable parking garage (around $24 per day if you get in before 10am) on 25th street.

The studio is also a short walk from Penn Station. I recommend Uber if you need a ride as well!

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

The name on the registration/ticket doesn’t match the attendee. Is that okay?
As long as they have the printed ticket, sure!
